What is SoLoPrint and how does it differ from OctoPrint/Klipper?

The Evolution of 3D Printing Software For years, makers and print farms have relied on local solutions like OctoPrint or Mainsail/Fluidd (for Klipper). While powerful, these solutions bound you to your local network. SoLoPrint is different. It acts as a universal, cloud-based command center. Instead of replacing OctoPrint or Klipper, SoLoPrint integrates with them via our proprietary Rust Bridge. You continue to run your preferred local firmware, but SoLoPrint acts as the overarching global brain. Key Differences: 1. Zero Port-Forwarding: Access your cameras and controls from 5G or any external network safely. SoLoPrint tunnels the connection outward. 2. Unified Fleet Management: If you have 2 Klipper printers and 3 OctoPrint machines, SoLoPrint places them all on a single dashboard page. 3. Which hardware and 3D printers are supported by SoLoPrint?

Universal Compatibility SoLoPrint does not restrict you to a single manufacturer or ecosystem. We support almost any printer that can be connected via USB to a print server. Officially Supported Integrations: - OctoPrint: Any printer connected to an OctoPrint/OctoPi instance. We support auto-discovery and full telemetry mapping. - Klipper (Moonraker): Native support for Moonraker APIs, allowing full macro injection and high-speed monitoring. - Bambu Lab: We natively support Bambu Lab printers (X1C, P1S, P1P, A1 Series) via their local LAN-Only Mode. This ensures your g-code never hits the Bambu cloud, remaining strictly between your network and SoLoPrint. Your First Steps into SoLoPrint Unlike traditional slicing software, SoLoPrint operates as an overarching workspace for you, your team, or your household. 1. Account Creation Navigate to https://soloprint.app/auth and sign up using either Google OAuth or a standard email/password combination. Because SoLoPrint is integrated into the broader SoLoVision ecosystem, this account also works seamlessly across SoLoLink and SoLoVoice. 2. Workspace Initialization Upon your first login, you will be prompted to name your Workspace. For hobbyists, this could simply be "My House". For businesses, "My Print Farm". The Workspace acts as the root boundary. All Printers, Spools, and G-Code files uploaded will be scoped explicitly to this Workspace. Next, you should navigate to Settings > Bridge Connectors to generate your first auth key.

Best practices for securing your printer and local network

Keep Your Machines Safe 3D printers are thermal devices capable of reaching 300°C+. Exposing them directly to the open internet is a massive security risk. Rule 1: NEVER Port Forward Do not open port 5000 or 80 on your home router to allow external access to OctoPrint or Mainsail. This exposes your network to ransomware. Rule 2: Use the SoLoPrint Bridge SoLoPrint was engineered expressly to prevent port forwarding. By installing the SoLoPrint Bridge on your Raspberry Pi, the Pi establishes an outbound connection to our secure relays. This creates a secure tunnel without modifying your router's firewall. Rule 3: Secure your API Keys When generating a Bridge Key in the SoLoPrint dashboard, treat it like a password. Do not share it. Our platform uses Row Level Security (RLS) to ensure that only authenticated users tied to your Workspace can interact with your hardware.
